Editorial standards

These are the rules the desk works to. They are short because they are meant to be kept.

Sources

Every factual claim links to the page it came from. Where a piece relies on numbers, they come from a platform's public data interface, such as YouTube's Data API, or from a public profile page, and the piece states the date they were retrieved. Where a piece describes a platform's rules, it quotes the platform's own documentation and links to it. We do not use figures we cannot show the origin of.

Quotes

We quote only text that appears on a page we have read, and we attribute it to that page. We do not reconstruct or paraphrase quotations as if they were verbatim.

Bylines

Work is produced by the desk and published under the byline The Creator Gazette Staff.

Independence

We do not publish sponsored content and we do not accept payment, products or favours for coverage. Nothing on the site is an advertisement.

Corrections

When we are wrong, we say so. A corrected piece keeps its original text where the correction is minor, with a dated note stating what changed; a substantive error is corrected in the text and noted at the end of the piece. All corrections are listed on the corrections page. Send corrections to contact@thecreatorgazette.com.

Dates

The date on a piece is the date it was published. We do not backdate.
